I've been on a sort of hiatus, but I think I've got it in gear now (no pun intended). I've updated the Etsy shop with 13 fresh BB's. It's Spring, your bike wants to go have some fun so you might as well get it a new accessory to boot.

What a year it has been...and is.

This year has been chock full of ups and downs, mostly downs. I went on a 3 and a half month hiatus of riding my bike to work. I have no excuses, I was just consumed by the convenience of having a car again and sort of forgot that riding to work may take a little longer, but is far more entertaining and less stressful to boot.

I'm more motivated than I have been in a long time, and with that, I almost want to reward myself and/or motivate myself even more by maybe investing in a new ride and some stylish knickers.

I'm currently commuting on my Surly Long Haul Trucker. I love my Surly (aka Bessie), but I think for commuting, it's almost too much bike for me. My 3 mile commute to work is flat...no hills at all, nothing. 27 gears is a lot to lug around, especially when I only use 2 of them...maybe 3 if there's a breeze.

So right now I'm considering this:

It's the Nirve Fairfax. My LBS has one in stock and I've ridden it around a little and I LOVE it. It's comfortable, fun, stylish and just a very nice ride. Count me in. It also has that wonderful dynamo hub on the front which powers the headlight and the tailight. Only 8 gears to choose from and they're all internal...which keeps the bike looking simple and sleek to boot. Ah man, so great!

Aside from a new bike to get me motivated, I've also found some really nice commuting apparel. My boyfriend has had his Chrome Knickers for years now and they're still holding strong, I had even considered getting a pair of them until I saw that Chrome came out with the Vanya Knickers for women! They look fantastic, feminine and comfortable.

At $120, they're a little out of my price range, but I'm hoping that when I'm in Vegas for Interbike, I may be able to score a pair or two at a relatively inexpensive price. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

These are only a couple of the many things that are keeping me motivated as of late and I cannot wait to get my hands on them! Ahhh! Patience is a virtue.

This was my first year attending Interbike in Las Vegas, it was pretty great. We didn't arrive until Wednesday afternoon, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the free refreshments being handed out. I had my first PBR, too. It honestly wasn't that bad. Really! (It won a blue ribbon after all.)

I saw some bikes that I was curious about and settled on whether or not I was still into them. I have a Pashley Princess Sovereign and a Madsen Bucket Bike on my "to buy" list now...and this whole time I thought I was done buying bicycles. =) Although, I will be selling my Xtracycle in order to get the Madsen, I can't fit both in the garage, especially with Dominics Cetma Cargo on it's way.

So, if you or anyone you know is interested in a practically brand new Xtracycle (bike included!), I've got one. I'll give you the specs and pictures once I've made my way down to the garage.

Now...to build more Burritos!

No pudding at all really, but I didn't know what else to say.

The Wet Burritos have been doing well and I can't seem to keep them in the shop for very long, this is a good thing! I'm happy about that and I'll be getting more of them (along with many other varieties) in the shop this weekend.

Today we took a trip to our local delicious beverage distributor to pick up some more of the mini Tabascos that complete the Bike Burrito image and make my customers chuckle...and much to my surprise, they were on sale, wowie! My favorite! I bought em' up and they're getting ready to go off into different directions and let me tell you, they are excited. So if you've noticed a slight delay in your Bike Burrito processing time, this is why, the Tabasco is now in the house...and I can't send out a Bike Burrito without one, it's like...a unicorn without it's horn. It's just not a unicorn anymore. Basically, a Bike Burrito isn't a unicorn without it's Tabasco.

On to other things. I'm most definitely an advocate for supporting local crafters and just crafters in general...but man, I am a sucker for bicycle prints. Even if they are at Nordstrom Rack, which is okay because it was less than half the original price, right?! Okay, there's slight buyers remorse, but not much. =) I managed to stumble upon this really fantastic Lesportsac bag with multicolored and multibikes all over it! It's the perfect size for a carry on bag since on September 23rd we'll be flying to Las Vegas to attend this years Interbike. It'll also be my first plane ride. Great.

I'm also looking for another supplier for my nylon straps. My current supplier has decided to brand theirs with a huge logo, which isn't appealing to me and/or possibly everyone else. I might share to them how I feel while at Interbike. So if you know a friend who has a friend...you know, I need more nylon straps.

So fortunately, I now have Wet Burritos available! Yes, there, I said it. Bike Burritos with a black cordura exterior. For those of you who aren't afraid of a little wet weather, you're in luck.

I have a couple of them left in the Etsy shop, so grab em' up while you can! If there's something you want, but don't see, send me an email and I'm pretty sure I can work my magic and make it happen. Right now only black cordura is available for the exterior (I'm currently in search of some fun patterns) but practically any color is available for the interior. Keep in mind there is an extra $2 cost for anything that isn't readily available (if I have to go on an adventure to seek it out).

I'm also always accepting incriminating photos of you and your Bike Burritos.

On another note, I recently purchased a new bike...her name is Aunt Bea, she's a 2009 Brompton M6L and she's the cats pajamas.

I love getting pictures of the BB's in action and to see them on the bikes. I've received a few pictures in the past couple of weeks and also got some pretty fantastic compliments to boot!

Next Friday, Saturday, Sunday and a bit of Monday, I'll be up in Paso Robles for the Great Western Bicycle Rally...and I'll be taking the Bike Burrito with me!

So if you're in the area, come check them out in person. I'll be making up a little batch of them and also be handing out cards and buttons to remind you to go to the website for any custom orders you may have...or just orders. =)

A couple weekends ago, my boyfriend and I took a trip to Joshua Tree National Park. On our way into the park we stopped off at the visitors center and he bought a fabric map. It was a neat little souvenir, and what better way to actually put it to use than to use it as a Bike Burrito?

It's a little bit bigger than the other Burritos, measuring about 20 inches by 20 inches, but it includes an additional pocket...not to mention it's a fully functional map.

So I'm thinking about carrying these in the shop. They're fun, neat and if you happen to be going through one of our national parks, then you're able to find your way around to boot! They'll run about $35. Any suggestions on maps? Places of interest?

On another note, I've started carrying vegan friendly vinyl straps instead of the nylon. They're a bit classier looking.

So, I recently received some great fabrics donated by my friend Amanda. I've started adding them to the Etsy shop. Some I can only make one of, others I may or may not be able to duplicate, so grab em' up while you can!

So this was pretty exciting news to me. I haven't had my go at any fame in my life, not even the 15 minutes that everybody is entitled to. The Bike Burrito was mentioned in The District Weekly as a great thing to get yourself once you've taken back that Christmas present that you had to pretend to adore. =)

What with the opening of Long Beach Fixed Gear and bicycling in general experiencing a welcome boost in popularity (please, people, stay out of your cars) now is a good time to invest in a Bike Burrito. Developed by Long Beach’s very own bicycling photographer (and District contributor) Russ Roca and Jayme Lynn Bassett (she of the super-cute wares available on mycatsfancypants.blogspot.com), the Bike Burrito is essentially a pencil holder for your bike tools. So I've finally gotten to work on the Etsy store for the Bike Burrito. I was having some major issues with the Paypal Widget. The idea was great, but editing things on there really tested my patience. As orders are coming in, I'm trying to prioritize myself. I'm not sure where to start or even how to begin. I'm thankful for the business.

Russ and I have been working on a newer smaller design in relation to the Burrito, but that's still to come, so stay tuned. There are also going to be a few options available to customers as well.

There's so much that goes into getting a small business started. I'm working on getting the Paypal store to the right up and running with stock Burritos ready to order and ship out and I'll be putting up individual listings for options.

The first batch of orders is being sent out today too, so if you've been patiently awaiting your BB, it's on it's way!

Things are coming together, just trying to get my head on straight.

It's piping hot and ready for the holidays! The Bike Burrito is a funky twist on the classic bike tool roll. It is designed to carry your bike essentials in style! Patterns will include tweeds, plaids, quirky patterns, all lined with a long lasting canvas interior. All Bike Burritos are handmade in the US. Support your local crafter!

The Bike Burrito comes in two sizes, Regular and Grande!

Regular Bike Burrito ($20):
-Contains three pockets, perfect for a spare tube, multi-tool and some small wrenches.
-Measures 11x16 unfolded and 11x8 when folded.

Grande Bike Burrito ($24):
-Contains 5 pockets and can hold everything you might need for a bike tour!
-Measures 16x16 unfolded and 16x8 when folded.

All Bike Burritos come with a simple toe strap that lashes the burrito to your seats rails. Simple. Elegant. Nothing to break and easily replaceable. We will be selling the burritos with leather toe-straps (black or white) and with a vegan-friendly black nylon strap!
